Olympics Giphy Sticker Pack

Role: Art Direction / Design




Nike approached us to create a GIPHY sticker pack in time for 2021 Tokyo Olympic season as a part of Nike’s PlayNew campaign.

Collaborating with the Nike team, we created 15 sports themed stickers with a colorful, witty, vibrant, and dorky taste for gen-Z/milenial users to use on their social media platforms and in messages while watching the Olympic games or any kind of sports.

These are still currently available on GIPHY to use.



Process



︎︎︎ Idea Exploration


We started by brainstorming many different ideas by doodling fun sketches without editing our thoughts too much in the beginning. We focused on creating images/icons that could evoke a sentiment and cleverly exude sports language or sports viewership, or simply make the users smile.

Below are some fun idea sketches organized in six different buckets our team created during the ideation process.





 
Mixing and matching 2D and 3D together, we tried to find the right style for the each sticker that can communicate the idea the best. To better unify the stickers within the pack, we textured the 2D stickers with a “3D” style and vice versa for the 3D stickers.

While each individual sticker has a unique and distinct style, we aimed to tie them all together within the sticker pack with the one thematic throughline of making them all feel colorful, vibrant, and energetic.
