with Effects
It was a fantastic experience working on this 3-minute Valorant cinematic film at The Mill, led by creative director David Lawson. My role involved designing and art directing the effects, collaborating with cel artists, Houdini FX artists, and nuke artists to bring the vision to life.
This was my first time diving into a full CG VFX pipeline, which was a fresh challenge compared to the work I was used to. It required collaborating closely with multiple departments, which brought more problem-solving and adjustments to integrate design elements into the CG world. It was a great opportunity to learn, adapt, and contribute to a truly exciting project.

A dash of handcrafted charm, interconnected with tasteful transitions, brought to life with nuanced character details. Our happy place.
At the core, we wanted you to feel transported. We wanted the chaos of everyday life to dissipate into the background, bringing our viewers to a world only possible with the freedom of exploration. We captured the spirit of adventure with a whimsical and fun animation style, using the artistic expression of a fully illustrated world to our advantage. We took the opportunity to make the moments feel larger than life, not only through the inherent personal touch of a hand-drawn universe but through the accentuation of the characters and landscapes themselves.

For more complex shots with bigger camera movements and a motorcycle moving through the frame, our team drafted the rough animation in 3D.
Then using the 3D pre-vis as a guide, we cel animate on top and recreate the environment in 2D to match the look.

Hannah: Rebuild The World
︎Role: Art Direction / Design
︎Year: 2020
︎ Ana Awards (2021)
︎ B2B Awards (2021)
As creators, each of us has a memory of that inspirational spark leading us down a creative path of pushing the boundaries and converting failure into opportunity. For some, LEGOs are that flame. So when we were asked to tell the story of Hannah, a creative, confident, and resilient young girl who loves to build and uses LEGO Education lessons to change the world, we leapt at the opportunity.
Through a mixture of 2D animation and CG LEGO renderings, we follow Hannah at school and home, persevering through failure and immersing herself in her goals. Small acts of fearlessness carve a path for a larger impact on her journey to rebuild the world in an extraordinary way.

︎︎︎ Our Hannah

Hannah is an enthusiastic, bubbly, passionate, hard-working, and resilient middle-school girl who's not afraid of trial and error.
While keeping her ethnicity ambiguous to connect with a broader demographic, we tried to put a lot of personality into her character by making her relatable and lovable for the viewers to cheer alongside Hannah's journey.

︎︎︎ Bots
With the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime kit, we created five different stages of the bots Hannah makes in the story. Four of the five were first built with the actual LEGO kit, then we brought them to life in 3D. The build gets more complex with each step, improving upon the errors Hannah faces with the build.

Apple Music
︎ Role: Design / Art Direction
︎ Year: 2019
Partnering with Apple Music Japan, we set out to tell two very different, but equally magical stories.
The first, “New Life” showcases the summer festival season’s bright days and vibrant nights in Japan. We follow our lead character as he slides, dives, and crowd-surfs his way across the festival scene, sprinkled with authentic details taken from the sites, snacks, and regalia of the season. Both pieces serve as dynamic journeys through life, backed by music and sounds that keep things fun and energizing.
The second, “Summer” centers around our protagonist and her metamorphosis from student life into her young adulthood as a budding professional. Fueled by her soundtrack, our hero and her world spring to life with vivid colors and fluid cel animation, setting her well on her way into a new stage of life and style.
